Joseph Like's Europa
I started flying with my father
when I was nine after my family acquired
a Cessna 170A. Seven years later the family upgraded to a Ryan Navion.
My first solo was under a CAP scholarship at 17 in a PA12 (three place club)
base at
Lewis B. Wilson airport (MCN) in Macon. I entered flight training in the
Navy in 1974, flying as an NFO in the E-2. I finished my private license
in 1976. After that I received
my complex sign off in 1978 flying T-34's from the Navy Flying club in
Memphis TN. The most fun I had was flying a Champ out of Brown Field in
San
Diego. See more of the bio
I am please to announce that on Nov 12th 2004 the FAA granted N952JL her airworthiness certificate. Empty weight was 805.5 lbs. Of course that is without interior. On Sunday Nov 14th The green dragon took to the air for the first time under the capable hands of Lee Gmerick. (He's done most of the mono wheel first flights and the insurance company approves of him.) Below are some pictures from that first flight. The aircraft was off the ground in 150 ft (estimate) and by the time she pasted the first taxi way, she was already at pattern altitude of 1000 ft.. There is an engine cooling problem so the flight was a short one. On Tuesday the Jabiru Engine dealer flew in for and we feel we have the engine cooling problem addressed. We are currently waiting new designed ram air ducts sent from down under.
